Hello and welcome to Running Tree Sugarhouse! We are a family and friend business, owned and operated by Dave A Lemke, Dave E (Beaner) Lemke, and Dennis Lemke. Our emphasis on business is the production of Pure Maple Syrup.
Our goal is to provide niche, quality maple syrup that will give our customers the ability to create unique and exciting meals. In addition, we are committed to working with local vendors and farmers who promote sustainable agriculture.
Our maple syrup is produced in small batches with special care to ensure you receive only the highest quality products. We produce our maple syrup by boiling the maple sap collected from the maple trees. We collect this sap in early spring during March and April when the daytime temperature rises above freezing to allow the sap to flow and the nighttime temperature drops below freezing, "charging" the trees for the next day.
This narrow window of four to six weeks is when the magic happens at our sugar shack. Our maple syrup reserves are restored so we can deliver the best pure maple syrup all year long. We taste test and color grade every single batch to make sure it meets our exacting standards. We often wonder what the men and women who boiled sap here in the 1800's would think of the electronic pumps, reverse osmosis and high speed internet. All of which we utilize to produce, market, and ship our fine maple products to destinations worldwide.
Our Story
Beaner and Dennis are the 3rd generation Lemkes to carry the family tradition. Their Grandmother-Hessafort started the tradition of tapping as a little girl in the state of New York, then her family moved to Wisconsin. As a young boy, they helped with tapping trees when they visited their Grandmother. They continued to carry on the tradition after school, tapping about 30 trees with their father Dave A Lemke.
The tradition continues to build to this day. Beaner and Dennis continue to run tree lines alongside their father Dave. Family and friends are key in the operations, with spouses, children, and many friends working to manage the many facets of running a business.
Running Tree Sugarhouse has grown into an operation of over 50,000 tapped trees on family owned land and leased land in Taylor county.
The Running Tree Sugarhouse's belief is to create the best product and become the best company that it can be.
